Art_Logo.jpgArt at the Cathedral
Art at the Cathedral is a voluntary committee made up of art lovers within the church and community. Their goal is to provide ‘sacred space’ for artists who feel that visual art is one of their modes of spirituality. Artists of many different faiths participate in the exhibits.

 Calls for Artists

Call for Artists, May 14th, 2008

SUMMER OPEN

The summer open gives the artist the opportunity to choose his own subject for presentation to the viewing public, especially the June Gallery Hop patrons on Friday evening, July 20. You may submit your work digitally directly to our webpage by requesting a password. Or you may email your images to the email address above. In either case you will be notified of which pieces are accepted. Or you may drop off your work Wednesday, May 14 from 11:00 to 1:00 or 5-6:00. Your acceptance will be called or Emailed that evening and you can pick up those items not accepted on Thursday or Friday at the Welcome Desk any time from 9:30 to 5:30 or on Saturday, 1:30--330.

Specifications: 1. All FRAMED works, including photography must be wired for hanging on our French Rod and Hook system!  2. For works larger than 11X14, Acrylic Sheets are preferred over glass (we had some breakage last show). 3. Provide description of hanging systems for fabric hangings, unusual or unframed works not using wire.  4. We have pedestals for sculpture and would welcome more sculpture.

Gallery Hop garden reception will be Friday, June 20th, from 5—8.

Bio and Artist Statement:

An artist statement and bio is preferred, preferably emailed. You may list contact information so that prospective buyers can contact you directly. The patrons of Art-at-the-Cathedral love to read your artist statement and bio. The artists statements are placed in folders and placed on a pedestal.

Entry fee and procedure:

A non-refundable entry fee of $15 for 1-3 entries and $25 for 4-6 entries allows the artist to enter up to six works. The fee may be presented when you drop off your art. The fee does not cover shipping.

Promotion

If you want your works to be selected for display on our websites, submit slides or email the images to cccart@insightbb.com. The exhibit is advertised in the Herald Leader and Lex-Arts promotion; select images are placed on the website www.ArtsEatsEtc.com.

Exhibition Dates:

Art at the Cathedral will exhibit the selected works from May 18—July 6, 2006.  Pick up will be Wednesday, July 9.

Sales:

Works may be for sale. Art at the Cathedral suggests a 20% donation to Art-at-the-Cathedral when you make a sale resulting from exhibiting at our gallery. Modestly priced artwork sells very well. The news media have taken notice of the gallery. Art-at-the-Cathedral is a lister on www.ArtsEatsEtc.com.    Take a look and link to our website to view the current exhibit.

Insurance and liability:

Works are insured up to $ 5,000 (less 20%) while at the Cathedral but not while in transit. The insurance applies only during the published exhibiting dates.
