The very act of storytelling, of arranging memory and invention according to the structure of the narrative, is by definition holy…We tell stories because we can’t help it… We tell stories because they save us.     - James Carroll
We should write because humans are spiritual beings and writing is a powerful form of prayer and meditation, connecting us both to our own insights and to a higher and deeper level of inner guidance.  We should write because writing brings clarity and passion to the act of living.     - Julia Cameron
There is a story teller and writer in all of us.  Beginning on Thursday, September 9, a new group will be forming to explore the act of writing and journaling as a medium through which we pray and come to know ourselves better.  Writing will not be “taught” in this group, but rather we will come together to encourage the telling of our stories through the written word and explore the ways in which a regular writing and journaling practice can help us to grow spiritually.  Participants will not be required to share their work with others but may have opportunities to do so if they choose. For more information please contact Gwen Mathews at 608-3471 or Elizabeth Conrad at 254-4497.

We will begin with a discussion on prayer. The next 20 minutes are in silence and we leave in silence.
