The Cathedral Choirs
For 50 years, Christ Church Cathedral has supported and sustained choirs trained in the English Cathedral tradition. Instruction for the choristers is based on the curriculum of the Royal School of Church Music (RSCM).
Children and youth deepen their sense of history, liturgy, language and art as well as their ability to interpret sacred texts and music. Through the ongoing effort of learning and working together, they also develop friendships and become part of a community that uplifts collective and individual efforts. The Cathedral choirs learn what it is to be at the heart of vibrant worship.
The Cathedral Boys Choir
The Cathedral Boys Choir is open to boys age of 8 through voice change. The choir rehearses on Wednesdays and Thursdays 4:30-6:00pm. The boys sing each Sunday at the 11:00am Eucharist as well as at Evensong services and concerts throughout the year.

The Cathedral Girls Choir is open to girls ages 8 through 18. The choir rehearses on Wednesdays and Thursdays 4:30-6:00pm. The girls sing each Sunday at the 11:00am Eucharist as well as at Evensong services and concerts throughout the year.
The Cathedral Imps is for boys and girls beginning at age 4 through 8. Choristers work on singing skills, basic notation and reading, movement and Christian understanding. This is a preparatory choir for the Cathedral Boys and Cathedral Girls choirs. The Cathedral Imps meet Saturdays 8:30-9:15am from the end of September through the middle of May.
The Cathedral Womens Choir is an ensemble for women ages 18 and older. The choir sings twice a month at the 8:30am liturgy from September to May. The Cathedral Womens Choir rehearses twice on Thursdays from 6:30-7:30pm. Please contact Kathleen Balling, Choir Director, for further information.
Admission to the ATB Choir is by competitive audition. Auditions are normally held each fall. Audition requirements emphasize vocal ability and sight-singing. Please contact the Canon Musician for more information. Students at Transylvania University and the University of Kentucky are particularly encouraged to apply.
Beginning in September 2023, the Cathedral Singers, a volunteer choir, will alternate with the Womens Choir to provide choral music for the 8:30am liturgy during the academic year. Some music reading ability and choral experience are helpful but not required. Rehearsals will be twice a month on Thursdays, 6:30 to 7:30pm.
The Cathedral Singers provides an opportunity for parishioners -- adults and teens -- to be a part of a choral ensemble. The Cathedral Singers will continue to be the primary choir during the months of June, July and August, and will have an opportunity to sing special services such as Christmas Eve Pageant, Epiphany and Easter Vigil.
