Director of Operations and Finance

The nature of managing a church operation requires a high level of empathy and healthy boundaries in dealing with others and a Christ-inspired view of the world. The culture of Christ Church Cathedral is centered around creating an environment where “All Are Welcome,” and it depends on a collaborative leadership approach. The DOF must model these characteristics within the operation as he or she ensures healthy and secure functioning of all human, operational, IT systems, financial, and facilities resources of the parish. The cultural fit with Christ Church is a critical element for success and enjoyment.

Position Summary

 

The Director of Operations and Finance will:

  1. Manage church assets, grounds, facilities, and personnel functions.

  2. Ensure that proper controls exist and are followed in the handling and safekeeping of all church assets.

  3. Collaborate with the Dean & Rector, the Church Treasurer (volunteer position), the Vestry (volunteer Board of Directors,) and volunteer committees in the administration of all aspects of church finance.

  4. Oversee the use, maintenance, and upkeep of all church buildings, grounds, parking
    lots, etc.

  5. Oversee all safety and security protocols and ensure compliance with national, state,
    and local regulations.

  6. Oversee administrative information technology for the church.

  7. Administer human resources function for all employees.

  8. Process payroll for all clergy and staff.

  9. Work with the Dean on processes and matters surrounding institutional development.

  10. Cultivate stewardship relationships and, where appropriate, in consultation with the
    Dean, makes asks for financial support.

  11. Serve as a resource to all programs and ministries within the church.

Qualifications

  • At least 3 years of experience managing an organization with comparable complexity
    and dynamics.

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher, or qualified training in a related field preferred.

  • Strong understanding and prior oversight of accounting and finance functions is
    required.

  • Prior direct responsibility for facilities management is desired. An emphasis on
    maintenance and buildings utilization, such as an office manager role, is preferred

  • Prior experience managing an employee staff and outside contractors is required.

  • Intermediate computer skills in Microsoft Office products, such as Excel and Word, are
    required.

  • Must be willing to submit to a background check as a condition of employment.

Associate Rector for Welcome and Outreach

Christ Church Cathedral, a dynamic downtown cathedral in the heart of Lexington, seeks an outgoing priest to equip and lead our thriving Welcome and Outreach Ministries and engage in all facets of ministry at a vibrant Episcopal Cathedral. We are looking for a clergy person with passion for evangelism and outreach, a leader of leaders skilled at raising up volunteers and equipping teams.

Position Summary

 

The Associate Rector for Welcome and Outreach will:

  1. Oversee our process for newcomer engagement.

  2. Shepherd seekers in their next steps for spiritual growth and discipleship.

  3. Liaise our Lay Assistant for Welcome.

  4. Collaborate with the Director of Christian Education.

  5. Provide leadership and guidance to our Lay Outreach Team.

  6. Be an integral member of the Team in teaching, preaching and pastoral care.

  7. Develop meaningful relationships.

  8. Raise up, equip, and recruit volunteer leaders.

  9. Work collaboratively with leaders to create three-year goals and one-year benchmarks for welcome and outreach.
