Weddings at the Cathedral
A wedding at Christ Church Cathedral is available to our members and their children who have been in good standing for at least one year. The Cathedral is also available to members in good standing of other Episcopal parishes in the Diocese of Lexington. Others may be considered with approval of a Cathedral Priest..
The Episcopal Church and Christ Church Cathedral affirm and support marriage between same sex couples and opposite sex couples.
All marriages at the Cathedral must be performed by a Priest on staff at Christ Church or another Priest in the Diocese of Lexington with a Cathedral Priest assisting.
At least one of the couple to be married must have been baptized. The couple must complete pre-marital counseling with the Priest prior to the wedding.
If either party has been divorced, the godly judgment of the Bishop of the Diocese of Lexington must be requested at least 60 days before the proposed wedding date. The official divorce decree must be submitted with the application.
Weddings are not performed during the liturgical seasons of Advent and Lent, and in May.
If you would like to further discuss a wedding and obtain a copy of the Cathedral Wedding Protocols, please contact the Assistant to the Dean and Rector for Welcome and Community Diane Milburn at 859-254-4497 or email@example.com.
